Liquid Bread downtown Campbell, CA December 29th

December 29th 2012 Liquid Bread downtown Campbell, CA

This was my first time at liquid bread. With the name liquid bread I expected a lot plus they got a good review by the beer runner http://beer-runner.blogspot.com and I like his blog. I have heard about it being over priced and their food being super overpriced. It was much smaller then I thought it would be and it’s true the beer prices are a little high and the food prices are even higher. The beer selection was good but our server had no knowledge of the beer even though he thought he did. I would still rather go to BYR of Belgium when in downtown Campbell but I will return someday for sure.

Allagash Bourbon Barrel Aged Black
Portland, ME – ABV 9.3%
Dark black color, nice brown lacing. The smell lacks the strong oak barrel aged scent. The flavor wasn’t as strong either, it was a good beer but not up to my bourbon barrel aged standard. It has a nice sweet back end but not up to par and way over priced.

Affligem Noel
Opwijk, Belgium- ABV 9%
The scent is very yeasty. It is a dark red color. Very good fruit taste to it. The smell and taste is like nothing I’ve had before tastes of black licorice and dried fruits. This is a great Belgian strong dark ale!

Hermitage Oatmeal Stout
San Jose, CA – ABV 5%
Dark black stout. Smells and tastes of chocolate and oats. It was a little thin for a stout but great sweet flavor.
