So the Wookey jack was stronger more flavor an hops while the boardwalk was creamier and sweeter. I am awarding this face of to the Wookey Jack because it was more complex and I felt more love went into the brewing then the board walk. As for my friend Moises he picks the boardwalk and that’s ok because beer is good and so is he.

Traquair House Ale

Traquair House Ale – ABV 7.2%
Dark cloudy black color. Scent of dark sweet ale but so faint. Sweet malty flavor like most Scottish ale. It is lighter and thinner then most Scottish ales I am used too. I am impressed with this ale for what it is. I love the history behind the beer and brewery. I will be buying this beer again.

The bottle inticed me with the words “A handmade ale brewed in the ancient brew house of the oldest inhabited house in Scotland”

I did some research to find put more about this brewery. Traquair House, the oldest inhabited house in Scotland, dates back to 1107 AD, when it was a hunting lodge for the kings of Scotland. It has had descendants of the same family living in it from 1491 to the present day. As did many estates of the era, Traquair operated a house brewery and when Mary Queen of Scots visited in 1566, Traquair was already brewing a famous strong ale.

Some time after 1800, brewing ceased at Traquair. The original brewery equipment remained on the estate, idle, until the 20th Laird of Traquair, Peter Maxwell Stuart, discovered the recipe and restored the brewery in 1965. The copper brewkettle at Traquair is over 200 years old, and beer is made in the traditional manner — even using oak fermenting vessels, which contribute to the deep, unique character of these beers.

Innis and Gunn Oak Aged Scotch Ale- Original

Innis and Gunn Oak Aged Beer- Original – Scotch Ale ABV 7.2% Cloudy dark gold color. Scent is that of hard scotch, strong malt and barley. Taste is that of sweet oak and hard scotch. It is so strong like drinking Scotch in a beer form. It comes from aging the ale in oak barrels that Scotch was brewed in. Can you believe it’s strong and creamy at the same time? It a true pleasure drinking this beer!

This is my favorite beer of all hands down. They don’t sell this beer in California so it’s a extra special treat when I get it. So far I only get it when I go to Las Vegas and Memphis.

Mrs Stoutfire – The Bruery – Bottle – ABV 9.5%
Smells of burnt Malts. I get coffee and a Strong flavor of stout with burnt malts. While it punches you in the mouth with the first sip it is amazingly smooth on the back end. 20130602-204744.jpg

Ichigo highway – The Bruery – Bottle – ABV 5.5%
Amazing strawberry sour! A red cloudy. A great sour fruit beer I could get addicted to this! I give it a 4.5 out of 5

From the brewer: Ichigo Highway is a collaborative beer that we created with Hangar 24 Brewing from Redlands, CA. The base style is a sessionable sour red ale that we aged in oak barrels along with a whopping amount of strawberries, most of which were picked from the fields besides Hangar 24’s brewery. Aged for approximately 8 months, this beer has developed a pleasant funk and a delightful acidity that is balanced by the intensely sweet aroma and flavor of the strawberries as well as a unique dryness achieved by using a sake yeast along with our house strain along with souring bacteria.

New Belgium Lips of Faith Brasserie Dieu du Cial

New Belgium Lips of Faith Brasserie Dieu du Cial!
ABV 9% – heavenly feijoa tripel- ale brewed with feijoa and hibiscus

Dark golden orange color. Scents of fruit. Super smooth while being very strong like you would expect from a belgian Tripel and is has a tart almost sour aftertaste. The hibiscus gives it a fresh sweet flavor while the feijoa gives the amazing tart/ sour taste to the beer. Such an amazing tropical ale I give this 4.5 out of 5

This is a truly amazing beer brewed with non traditional ingredients. I have said it before the lips of faith series from New Belgium is GREAT they experiment with new and adventurous flavors and ingredients. This series pushes the boundaries of craft beer and in my opinion makes the world a better place by doing so. I tell everyone I meet like likes craft beer try all the lips of faith series you can’t go wrong.
